Volunteers are needed to serve on a health insurance study group.

The mission of this Bar Sponsored study group is to review and evaluate the ISBA health insurance plan, consider alternatives, including, but not limited to, remedial legislation which will allow the Bar Association to insure as a group rather than by individual offices. None of us “have the time”; however, those willing to “make time” for this important work, please contact John Frey, 408 South Second Street, Clinton, IA 52732, telephone 563-242-1832; email fhc@cistelecom.net. We intend to make a difference.

A. John Frey, Jr.

Help us better serve you!

Please don't forget to take The Iowa State Bar Association Member Services survey. We are surveying members to determine how well the Association is meeting your needs and how we can improve or change.

The survey consists of 20 short questions and should take less than 5 minutes. Each member who returns a completed survey will be automatically entered into a drawing for great prizes: free ISBA CLE, Manuals, and other prizes.

The tabulated survey results and prize winners will be announced in The Iowa Lawyer.

The responses you submit will be confidential. However to be eligible for prizes you must provide name and email address at completion of survey.

Paperless File & Pay of Iowa Withholding Begins January 2005

The Iowa Department of Revenue is pleased to announce a paperless system of filing your Iowa withholding deposits and returns. Electronic filing and payment of Iowa withholding will begin for tax periods that start in January 2005. Computer users will enjoy the ease and efficiency of the File & Pay online application. If you prefer to File & Pay by touch-tone telephone, you may. Both are safe, secure systems.

View the “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ) page to answer many of your questions. You will find additional resources for learning more about File & Pay in this FAQ list.

If you are not the individual responsible for filing and remitting Iowa withholding in your business, it is important that you share this information with the person who is.

More information is available on the Department of Revenue's Web site at www.state.ia.us. Semi-monthly filers and those who use a payroll service should be sure to read the File & Pay information available there.
